CPCS / CITB A40B Slinger Signaller (all types – static duties)

Course Duration

Novice Training – 3 Days

Experienced Slinger. (Covering Theory & Practical) – 2 Days

Experienced Slinger. Test Only (No Training) – 1 Day

Course Overview

  • This course is for anyone who requires training in slinging & signalling.
  • It is suitable if you have received no formal instruction.
  • If you wish to refresh your skills, we offer a short duration course.
  • This course is an ideal entry point into the lifting industry.

Course structure

  • Observe regulations and Codes of Practice
  • Follow safe systems of work including method statements
  • Take personal responsibility
  • Describe different types of cranes and associated terminology
  • Understand crane documentation
  • Establish the weight and dimensions of loads and communicate this information to the crane operator
  • Select appropriate lifting tackle and attach and detach it correctly and safely
  • Use clear and unambiguous signals to direct the actions of a crane moving loads of various weights and dimensions
  • Determine the serviceability of lifting accessories, and maintain and store them.
  • Theory Testing
  • Practical Testing

 

Entry requirements

  • You must have passed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test for managerial and professional persons no more than two years before attending the course.
  • You must also have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.

Assessment and exams

  • The course is delivered through a combination of classroom based tutorials and practical exercises.
  • You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.

Qualifications/certification

After successfully completing this course you will be issued with a Trained Operator Card this is valid for 2 years, And within the 2 years you will to progress onto the Level 5 Appointed Persons NVQ/SVQ which leads to a Competent Operator Card

Grants

The following grants available for eligible employers:

  • £50 per day for training days only
  • £190 for successful completion of the Practical Test
  • £60 for successful completion of the Theory Test
