CPCS / CITB A26 Mobile Elevating Work Platform – Boom

Course Duration

Novice Training – 2 Days

Experienced Operator Test Only (No Training) – 1 Day

  • This course will give you an understanding of the use of MEWP Self-Propelled Boom Lifts in a Construction Environment.
  • You must have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area

Course structure

  • Name and explain the purpose of principle components, the basic construction, controls and terminology
  • Conform with manufacturers requirements as per the handbook, and relevant regulation/legislation
  • Undertake all pre-use checks
  • Check emergency lowering functions
  • Configure and set for site travel
  • Travel over level surfaces (all types) and uneven terrain (self propelled)
  • Explain travel procedures and precautions on inclines
  • Manoeuvre in confined spaces
  • Configure and set for accessing duties
  • Position the platform to access a work position
  • Explain actions required for hazards, underground and overhead services
  • Access working points up to full operating height and reach
  • Travel with a raised platform (relevant endorsement)
  • Carry out plant shut down and securing procedures
  • Theory Testing
  • Practical Testing

Entry requirements

  • You must have passed a CITB Health, safety and environment (HS&E) test no more than two years before attending the course.
  • You must also have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Please contact us if you have any concerns in this area.

 

Assessment and exams

  • The course is delivered through a combination of classroom based tutorials and practical exercises.
  • You will be assessed through theory and practical tests.

Qualifications/certification

After successfully completing this course you will be issued with a Trained Operator Card this is valid for 2 years, And within the 2 years you will to progress onto the Level 2 NVQ/SVQ which leads to a Competent Operator Card

Grants

The following grants available for eligible employers:

  • £50 per day for training days only
  • £190 for successful completion of the Practical Test
  • £60 for successful completion of the Theory Test
