Aim

This training is to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills for the safe preparation and use of portable handheld disc cutters in the workplace and covers:

  • health & safety regulations
  • petrol, electric, and battery-powered machines
  • storing and transporting
  • pre-start/post-stop inspections
  • refuelling and recharging
  • dust suppression and water collection systems
  • operating machines
  • safe operating positions
  • security of cut section
  • blade selection and fitment of both abrasive cutting disc and diamond-tipped blade
  • step cutting method

Who Should Attend?

For anyone who uses/transports handheld disc cutters as part of their work duties, the standards should be read in conjunction with the PUWER approved code of practice (ACOP).2

Course Overview

This course has both classroom and practical training which can be delivered at All Plant Training Test Centre or out on-site. Candidates will be required to pass a theory and practical test to gain their certification.
