CITB Health & Safety Certificate

The CITB Construction Skills Health and Safety Test is the industry standard, taken by over 300,000 people every year.

It is designed to ensure everybody working in construction has a minimum level of Health & Safety awareness.

Passing the test is an essential part of qualifying for the major card schemes, such as CPCS and affiliated schemes. Without the right card it is increasingly difficult to get on a site.

There is no need to worry about obtaining your Construction Skills Health and Safety Test, as long as you are prepared for it. There is no substitute for good health and safety training.

• Why do I need to gain a Construction Skills Health & Safety Certificate?
  A good health and safety record is everyone’s business. The Health & Safety Touch Screen Test is designed to make construction workers aware of all the health and safety issues on site and held reduce accidents.
  
  
• What do I need to do to gain a Construction Skills Health & Safety Certificate?
  To gain a Construction Skills Health & Safety Certificate you need to pass an on line touch screen test. Book your test on line through the citb website (www.citb.co.uk) or by telephoning 0870 600 4020.
  You will need to have a credit or debit card with you when making a booking. You will be asked for your National Insurance number or CITB – Construction Skills registration number.
  
  
• How much does it cost to gain a Construction Skills Health & Safety Certificate?
  The current cost to sit the touch screen test is £17.50 (registered firms can claim £17.50 CITB grant for a test pass)
  
  
• Where can I sit the Construction Skills Health & Safety Test?
  There are 151 locations throughout the country. Many centres are open early in the morning, into the evening and even on Saturdays. When you book your test you will be offered a location of your choice.
  
  
• Will I be able to prepare for the test?
  There is a range of publications to help you revise for the test. From April 2007 onwards you will need to ensure that you use / purchase Edition 8 of The Health & Safety Test book or The 2007 CD-ROM. These contain all the questions you could face in the test, put together in a simple easy format. Copies of the book cost £8.49 and copies of the CD-Rom cost £10.99.
